Customer Reviews

Simple but effective
A well made but simple and effective product for connecting the camera to optics of a different size.

Opteka T-Mount Adapter for Canon EOS
The Opteka T-Mount Adapter for Canon EOS enabled me to fit a 500mm vivitar mirror lens to a Canon eos digital camera giving me a focal length of 700mm The depth of field is quite shallow because of the fixed aperture of f8 but I have been able to get very close to birds and animals unnoticed. The adapter saved a lens that would have otherwise gone unused. It is useful for all your manual focus T-mount lenses.

Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II Lens for EOS Digital SLR Rebel XT XTI 20D 30D Digital CamerasFrom Canon

More Detail

Canons redesigned compact EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II autofocus zoom lens approximately a 28-90mm lens in 35mm format is smaller and lighter than conventional lenses because of the shorter back focus distance. By reducing the distance from the rear of the lens to the imaging sensor and reducing the size of the image circle to accommodate the cameras imaging sensor size the lens produces high image quality with superb resolution at all focal lengths. By optimizing the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II lens coatings Canons engineers have effectively minimized the chance of flare and ghosting which are more prone to occur with digital cameras than with film cameras. The coatings reduce reflections off the rear of the lens to deliver crisp undistorted digital images. Customer Reviews

Not a $229.99 Lens
This is an adequate lens but the new kit lens Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS for the 450D/Rebel XSi sells for $137.80 on its own...and that lens has image stabilization Looking at the prices for the 400D/Rebel XTi with and without this lens the price for this lens is around $40-$80. The folks who are selling this lens at this price must be laughing pretty hard each time they make a sale.

Not a great lens
I dont know if I have a poor copy of this lens or what but Im not crazy about the image quality it makes - even when stopped down. Im looking for a better wide lens. It is possible to get good sharp images from this lens but many images are "soft" from it.

Great for the Price. from a new SLR fan ..
This is the kit lens that comes with Canon Rebel XTs models and others. I just bought the XT 350 with this lens. Im a pure newbie to SLR photography but I dove right in since I have been a avid shooter with 35mm for years. I did a lot of research and read reviews on different type of lens as I was concerned with the UNFAIR bad rep of this kit lens after I ordered the camera. Even from expert review sites they admit the dogged perception of this lens is unfair indeed and this is actually a very good everyday lens. After 2 weeks of use I have to agree. Here are the reasons: 1 Afford ability: You can pick this lens used/aftermarket easily for under $100. It is worth every penny of that. The new more expensive model with Image Stabilization IS is better but overrated. Im a beginner and it only took me a week of learning to start getting the most out of this lens. Its image quality is terrific. You cant beat the value from this 2 Color and Sharpness: The lens is very sharp and can capture great images. The reason most newbies doesnt like this is because it doesnt work well with the point-n-shoot modes on the SLRs. I was frustrated too at first as images wasnt "right" but its the user not the lens. Play with the P mode instead of the point and shoot modes. Learn to use the exposure settings based on light conditions adjust your light conditions higher/lower to capture the amount of light appropriately and use the build in flash occasionally in very bright conditions. keep experimenting and you will see this lens potential. I am very happy with my latest set of results from my honeymoon trip so far.. they keep on getting better and better... 3 Weight portability - As a newbie you dont want huge zoom lens thats heavy to lug around. This is light weight from its plastic body and easy to carry around for everyday use. So if you are getting started learn to love this lens. You are using SLR for a reason so ditch the point and shoot start experimenting and have fun with this. After 2-3 weeks learning curve it will SMOKE ANY 35mm digital cameras results easily. You dont need the more expensive Image Stabilization version unless your hands shake all the time and need to take many night mode/slow shutter pictures. This lens is worth every $ of its $one benjamin street price tag and when you get very comfortable with SLR basics I then recommend the $four benjamins Tamron SP AF17-50mm F/2.8 Di II LD Aspherical IF as its replacement. But for now I am perfectly happy with this lens and believe you will too. Happy shooting Check out the night view pictures and the Ayutayya pics I have uploaded as samples of what this cam can do. the Images are untouched

Will Always Be a Great Camera
Regardless of where technology takes photography in the next 5/10 years this will always be a great camera. I have a feeling it will be one of those classics that some people will carry around forever.

Seller changed mind
I cannot rate this product simply because the seller pulled the item and even though he refunded my money promptly I missed out on the sell after he reposted it. He said he didnt have all the pieces or accessories together and had to pull the camera. Shouldnt that have been done before he posted the camera for sale in the first place?? Not only was there not enough information on the camera and I had to continually email the seller. But then I didnt recieve the emails in a timely manner to inform me that he had reposted the item. Very disappointed.

Camera Is Great But Do Not Buy Big Ticket Items from Amazon
I gave two stars to get the attention of those wanting to buy big ticket price point goodies from Amazon. The Canon 5D is - mostly - all that its cracked up to be. However you are well advised not to buy this item through Amazon - let alone any big ticket item. I received the camera and it was poorly packed. When I opened the camera it appeared that it may have been a previous return. There were marks on the back of the camera as if someone using lotion or who has handled greasy food had handled the camera. I checked the camera and otherwise all seemed to be working properly and all documentation and accessories were present. So given the hassle of returning online purchases I decided to keep the camera. Then I was doing some high-key background editorial work at f22 and noticed some unusual artifact. Upon looping the sensor it turns out that the sensor had a minor scratch. This was a latent defect that was not readily observable even upon fairly rigid inspection of the camera. I contacted Amazon and by this time the return window was 20 days past. I was just looking to exchange the camera for an identical model. Amazons response was not just "too bad" but actually three conflicting responses which would have only compounded the problem if I sent the camera off to the "never never land" of Amazon returns. I would have been without a camera and without a refund. One customer service agent said that I couldnt exchange the camera as Amazon doesnt sell the Canon 5D any longer. In fact they do. Another agent said to return the camera for a refund and make sure it was insured for shipping. Upon seeking to clarify the return terms another agent responded and said that Amazon "stands firm" by its policy that a return cannot be made after the 30 day window has expired. My mistake? First not returning the item immediately. Second not spending a couple more hundred to have the peace of mind of dealing with a trusted camera shop. The moral of the story is "Do not buy big ticket items from price point online vendors such as Amazon unless you can take the downside of getting burned." Welcome to the new world of retail.

Customer Reviews

Really good product and as usual 47th Street got it here fast.
I bought a wired remote that I had to buy an extension for to use. But even though the extension is 8 feet long it is inadequate when you are trying to take some pictures. When I saw this device I knew I needed to have it. I used this yesterday to take pictures of my daughter and her family. Simple hold the camera and shoot? No - They were on an uncooperative horse. The solution is a tripod a good camera lens and this remote. I dont usually use auto focus in this instance I needed to. The horse did not like the whole situation and so I just set the camera on a tripod away from the horse and started shooting. After about 100 high res shots I was able to get what I needed. But holding a camera and approaching a horse is not always the best way to go. This remote worked great. It does time out to conserve batteries etc but 95% of the time it will never be an issue. I was standing about 50 feet from the camera at times with no problem. There was one problem though - My two year old granddaughter wanted to "push button" but that is another story.

Works great
The wireless remote works great. It controls the camera and allows you to auto focus before releasing the shutter. Best of all the remote does not have to be directly in front of the camera to work.

Opteka Rocks
This is a great choice for an amateur or pro. Shoot one or a hundred from behind your back in your pocket across the room or behind the camera. Great investment over the infrared remotes because you dont need to focus the beam on the camera and distances are limited with those.

Customer Reviews

Love this camera
This camera is awesome. It is great in low light and I can still ghost images which I prefer doing. Ive gone to the dark side digital and I really enjoy it. This is my first DSLR.
